Agents and Conveyancers work together? Forum aims to make it happen

Posted on Monday, January 24, 2022

The ESTAS Forum scheduled for March says its aim is to encourage agents and conveyancers to work more closely together.

“There doesn’t seem to be a week that goes by when we read another article telling us that the time it takes to buy or sell a house is taking longer and the rate of fall throughs is going up.  If this trend continues it could have a serious effect on the public’s confidence in the property sector, impacting transaction levels as we approach a possible period of slower growth after the frenzy of 2020 and 2021” says Simon Brown, ESTAS founder.

The forum will see a series of panels of agents and conveyancers, led by Sarah Edmundson - chief executive of Agents Together and chair of Boomin’s strategic board - plus Rob Hailstone, chief executive of the Bold Legal Group, and Iain McKenzie, chief executive of The Guild of Property Professionals.

“We want lively and open debate but the pandemic has shown us that during difficult times many agents and conveyancers can work together constructively and harmoniously. It would be great to see those types of mutually beneficial relationships become even more widespread as we head off into 2022 and beyond” says Hailstone.

Edmundson adds: “If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is the huge advantages that can be gained by thinking and operating differently. We have started to see more collaboration in the last 12 months across the industry, but there is still so much we can all do. I’m delighted to be working alongside Iain and Rob to extract some progressive ideas from the expert panels and to ultimately give the audience really valuable takeaways for the future.”

And McKenzie comments: “For as long as I’ve been in the industry there have been estate agents and conveyancers that have enjoyed a fabulous working relationship. Each business, despite looking through a different end of the telescope, understanding the roles and responsibilities of each other in the process. Their respective customers benefited from this synergy through excellent communication.”
