According to new figures from GetAgent, estate agents across England and Wales have registered just over 43,000 transactions per month over the last three months – meaning they’ve sold an estimated 17% of all homes listed for sale on a monthly basis.
The comparison site’s analysis of a three-month rolling average of property transactions also showed the North West and Yorkshire & The Humber are the two top-ranking regions for sales. Across the North West, estate agents are selling a monthly average of over 5,500 homes, while the average for Yorkshire & The Humber is slightly lower at around 4,200.
According to the research, the figures mean estate agents across both areas have been selling the equivalent of 20% of all homes for sale on a monthly basis. This compares with 19% in the West Midlands and North East, and 18% in the East Midlands.
The South East, East of England and South West all showed monthly sales volumes of 17% of total stock listed, while agents in Wales were found to have been selling the equivalent of 15%. London, meanwhile, ranked last on the list, with 12%.

And now, even during a more difficult period for the market, in many areas of the UK correctly priced homes are still selling as quickly as agents can list them.
“Of course, it’s important to note that a good quality agent is based on far more than their sales turnover – and the challenges they face differ from one property pocket to the next,” McCallion added. “In today’s market, the real value added by agents isn’t just through speed of sale or asking price achieved – it’s by using their experience and knowledge to synthesise these skills and get the sale over the line.”
